Bridge Conference 2023

18th Annual Bridge to Marketing and Fundraising Conference

A Practical Plan for Executive Management of DEI

August 3rd | 4 pm | Chesapeake GH room

If you’re interested in learning more about this topic, complete the form at right to receive a copy of our full report on the Model for Equity & Inclusion in Outreach. The report is full of probing questions for your team to consider, case studies of what other organizations are doing, resources for you to dig deeper, and worksheets that can facilitate planning with your team.

Chances are someone on your comms or fundraising team has asked about “diversifying your audience/donor base” sometime recently – but what does it actually mean? Reaching a wide range of demographics is important, but if you haven’t thought about why you’re trying to reach them, your approach can be generic and ineffective, at best, and tokenizing at worst.

Rather than starting with broad platitudes, it’s important to take a step back and understand what diversity in your audience actually means. We’ll be sharing tactics to expand your reach through collaboration with program and organizational leadership with authenticity. During the session, we’ll walk through an exercise to determine your goals and work towards accomplishing them. We’ll also share a nonprofit professional’s perspective on implementing this model.

This report is also still a work in progress! Please feel free to reach out to us to share your feedback, insights, or resources we may have missed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what audience diversity means to your organizational goals
  • Better grasp of tools and tactics necessary to diversify your audiences
  • Develop a solid understanding of why you are attempting to reach your audience to develop a more meaningful plan for engagement.
