Breakout 2E: Configuring your CRM to Enable Accessible Outreach and Engagement | Salon C-2, LL | Thursday, September 28, 2023
Often organizations talk about accessibility testing on websites. It’s a valuable part of launching a redesigned experience; however, most organizations generate content across more than just a website, including social media, email marketing, and advertising. Through the use of nonprofit case studies and data visualizations, we’ll dive into how to make marketing and communications workflows accessible to all audiences. We’ll also share a model for equity & inclusion in outreach to begin the journey to expand your impact.
Breakout 3H: How Do We Lead on Data Equity? | Salon C-3, LL | Thursday, September 28, 2023
Big Data has become a ubiquitous and somewhat meaningless term over time but has played a role in making all of us continue to think about the amount and types of data we collect. As society continues to work on building just, fair, and equitable systems our sector also continues to strive toward creating practices grounded in equity. In this panel discussion we are going to explore ideas on; What do we mean when we say data equity? What obstacles and roadblocks exist within organizations to reach data equity? Are there common pitfalls across the sector? What’s holding the higher education sector back from building and sharing data equity practices and systems besides staff and budget? How can we be good stewards of data, representing our communities in data? Where does the work of data governance and ethics belong in an organizational structure? How do we share best practices as an industry and how can we build community standard?

How to adopt a data driven business culture
We received a wave of new interest in 2020 and it happened overnight, an inflection point that brought us from around 250 individual donors to over 120K in the span of a few weeks. We were not set up for that influx and didn’t even know where to start. ParsonsTKO came in and gave us permission to press pause so that we could be intentional and strategic about what our new individual giving program meant to the organization. Now, we aren’t overwhelmed trying to do everything at once and have been able to implement the tracking and engagement structure that we need to bring our new donors into community with us. We’re already seeing high engagement levels and early renewals.
